Doon University, established by the Government of Uttarakhand by a Legislative Act in 2005 and recognized by the UGC under 12 (B), aims at to be a part of global knowledge society. Committed to promote academic excellence and socially relevant education, the University has made all efforts to meet the national and global standards. Presently, The University has five schools in the areas of Communication, Environment and Natural Resource, Social Sciences, Management and Foreign Languages- Spanish, German and Chinese. It has further plans to establish School of Physical Sciences, School of Technology, School of Biological Sciences and School of Design.

Its Main Campus is situated in an area of 55 acres at Kedarpur, Dehradun in beautiful surroundings with the backdrop of Shivalik hills and Sal forests. In addition, another Campus is going to be established in Sahaspur, Dehradun. So far, as part of the Master Plan, in the first Phase, the University has been able to create state of the art infrastructure consisting of an Academic-cum- Administrative blocks, Computer Laboratory, language Labs, Library and reference reading facility, a Hostel for Boys and Girls each with Internet Facility, Residences for Wardens and Faculties, Faculty lounge cum Guest House, with the financial support of the State Government.

In short span of its existence, University has been progressively moving towards becoming a Centre of Excellence in the field of higher education.

In this endeavor, I gratefully acknowledge the contributions of visiting eminent scholars and distinguished Professors from India and abroad, the funding agencies such as UGC,DST, NTPC and other individuals.

Along with my team comprising of the Registrar, Finance Controller and other colleagues of teaching and non-teaching fraternity the University is committed to provide transparent and responsive governance for facilitating a highly conducive environment for quality teaching and research.

Finally, I personally acknowledge and appreciate the constant encouragement and support from the Chancellor of the University, State Government of Uttrakhand and the valuable contributions made by my predecessors Prof. Gajendra Singh and Prof. Girijesh Pant and other distinguished well wishers in the development of this University.
